Still Alive

Hello there, Diaglo here.

As some of you may know, MegaUpload has been closed by the FBI because of... things. Just search on Google, they're more knowledgeable than I'd ever be. Fact is, now MultiUpload is down as well. People on the web say it moved to co.uk or something like that, but, since there aren't any proofs, we can't say much about it. But it's been more than three weeks already. The chances that MultiUpload'll come back to life are... slim, very slim. Therefore, we can only do one thing. Close the website. Sorry for being so frantic with this, but it's the only way I know to communicate such a news. Re-uploading more than 800 OSTs isn't a child's game and it's definitely not a sane activity.

Even so, this doesn't end our dream. It's still alive, out there, somewhere. There are many other websites out there that provide the same services we do, who does it better or worse doesn't matter. Don't let despair take over, for hope is not lost.

I'd want to thank every single one of you by spelling your names, but it'd get boresome, so I'll refrain from such an activity and thank every category:
I thank all of our contributors: JayThePerson, Austin Buford, Breezo, Celdur, Dan, Dr. Cosmo, Gabrielwoj, gdp002, Giaki, JayN, Junito Gray, Kaname13, Mark Gooderham, MexicanSunflower, PandaTime, Sparda, Starscream_910, Strife89, Tom Baker, Tsubasa, videocrazy and every single contributor we forgot to place in the list. Thank you very much for helping us realize our dreams, even if it's been a little more than two fleeting years.
I thank all of our requesters for making us have one hell of a hard time managing the website, because that would remind us of our responsability and of our pride. Out of all of you, I'd like to name Junito and Gabriel as the trickiest ones. Thank you a lot.
I thank all of our 1541 members of the website for registering and showing us your appreciation on the comments.  I'll name Mario as the most important one, because he's been the first one to comment on the news.
I thank Alex Zhou for making me laugh hard on a supposedly-menacious e-mail we've received a while back. You people may not know this, but someone actually wanted to use this domain for some kind of chinese industry. At first, we thought it was the FBI or something like that. Memorable was the fight between Faithful Novecento and Dear Zhou.
I thank AnonymousZ for letting us share his wonderful hosting which made the website faster than wind.
I thank Geoff... oh wait, he's a staffer.
I thank all of the anonymous people that supported our website by sharing it on their blogs and stuff.
I thank all of our 2472 subscribers on YouTube for supporting us. Just seeing the Views Counter on ol' YouTube Insight (how is it called now? Anal-something?) would make my heart race.
I thank all of our 767 impatient Facebook dwellers for waiting weeks for an answer. Out of all of them, I'll name Joey Peiso for deleting his complain against us by adding another one against MultiUpload. Nice show. Not to mention he did the same thing after these news were published. You'd be one hell of a dropout as an actor, you know?
I thank everyone who visited Final Fantasy XIII's page in these last days, making it the third most visited soundtrack on the website. I'm happy since I'm the one who uploaded it. The other OSTs in the Top 5 are all Novecento's. Bleargh.
I thank FFShrine, KHInsider and all of the websites we 'stole' the soundtracks from. Be a little less confusionary and greedy and you might even do a better job than us. By the way, guys, they're the places you should go to now. They've got a lot more soundtracks than we've ever had.
I thank Amazon, Play-Asia and all of the websites in which you can buy OSTs legally. So, guys, buy some, 'k?
I thank all of the 7108 voters who voted in the website's poll. Sorry for forgetting of all of you up until now. Speaking of polls, I also thank everyone who voted in the last year's contest. Especially who voted Ys vs. Sora no Kiseki: Unlimited Saga. I'm happy to know there's someone like me out there.
I thank all of the composers for making us have a dream in the first place.
I thank Barack Obama for voting against SOPA/PIPA or whatever it is. I'd like to fist-bump with you one day or another.
I thank the European Parliament for voting in favor of ACTA. You're faggots and I hope you die in the worst way possible.

Now, that's enough thanking, right? I'm pretty sure I forgot someone along the way and I'm sorry for whoever was left forgotten. It's time for the list now. No, not the OST list. The final messages list.

Closed. A word that no webmaster would like to pronounce. It means the end of everything, the final farewell. After "closed" there's nothing but memories that will make us all feel nostalgic. For over two years forums that I had administrated before were the past and OST Project was the present. It was a wonderful reality, a stunning proof of what five or six teenagers had done with just their determination. But more than that, it was a way to pay back the web for everything I had taken from it in the first place. For over two years we've been uploading more and more soundtracks, as a way to enlighten everyone's life with underestimated music. For over two years OST Project was an important part of my very life, especially during my beloved 2010, after 2009 had seen the end of another project I'd been working with. This is why "closed" just sounds wrong. Of course I can't say that I didn't see it coming: 2011 wasn't as good as 2010 and 2012 wouldn't have probably been either. Still, before MegaUpload and MultiUpload got hit, I had never explored the hypothesis for the site to be simply shut down. Now that the web has taken such a blow, it really seems the only option: move on with the channel and leave the rest. I'm pretty sure no one will ever forget what this project was for us all: surely I won't. Goodbye OST Project, teach angels how to upload good music.
-Novecento

OST Project wasn't just a site, it was an experience. My love for videogame music brought me to know a lot of people who have my same interest; we talked about many OSTs, I shared my favourite ones with many other people, but sadly it has ended unexpectedly and we can't do anything to recover all the work we've lost in just a few days. It was fun while it lasted; but don't let your love for the videogame music die, and keep sharing and listening to it! VGM FTW!
-Roy

I remember when I first got the email asking me to be a part of OST Project back in October of last year. I quickly accepted (though not without asking a few question first) and so became involved in the activity of uploading and posting video game soundtracks and rips to the site. It was great fun, even though I know there were times where weeks seemed to go by in a sort of OST "drought". It really sucks that it had to come to this: the closing of the site due to various filesharing haven takedowns and inactivity.
This site has introduced me to so many new soundtracks, and so many new composers, and for that I thank it. And thank you guys: for your contributions and continued support of the site, through its various ups and downs. I know I've only been here a few months, but it seems much longer. It has been great.
-Geoff

Hello there, I'm Strike. If you remember me you're like the coolest guy in your house.
Someone may remember me from one update I wrote like a year ago. Others may remember me as the guy who had the idea for this site.
Yeah, it was more than two years ago when, a boring day in December, I joined our super-secret chat and started spamming my idea to my friends and Diaglo. The rest is history (and if you don't know it, you can read more about it here!).
I definitely can't and don't want to take all the credits. Most -if not all- of the work was made by the active members of the staff (in which I'm not included), like Diaglo, Novecento, Roy, Geoff, Bacon, our contributors etc. Well, I think you can read more about that above.
This message is gettin' too long so I quit here. Although it may seem obvious and repetitive, I want to thank all the people who supported us in this adventure by criticizing and complimenting about our work here. Stay hungr- I mean, stay tuned to our Youtube channel, which is still alive.
-Strike

Sid here. If you've never heard my name, it's because I've never written any news. I'm basically the guy who checks the Facebook page. Or I should have. Someone up there does not like us, and that's why we'll never become famous enough to start getting money with the website, and... maybe I wasn't supposed to talk about that. Let's just cut that out, alright?
However, everything comes to an end. That's what happened with MultiUpload. For some reason it's not working, as you may have noticed by now, but hey, I'm pretty sure Diaglo is explaining this in the news, so... On the brighter side, the police will never get us for this.
So this is it. Obviously, and sadly, keeping the site online would be useless, and even if everyone will say this in the news, we are actually sorry. OSTProject's been a part of our lives. And it will still be a part of our story. A big part, a significant part. And we owe it all to you.
-Sid

I know these are kind of bad news, but there's one good thing I can say. All of you who used this site should likely know that there is a YouTube Channel that is used to promote the site. Well, it'll continue on living. You can expect some uploads from time to time, but since I am alone I won’t be able to carry on requests (I’m a busy person, after all).
I enjoyed my experience as an uploader for the website and I want to express my thanks here, with this comment, to the team who welcomed me months ago.
The site might be dead, but don’t lose your passion for video game music :)
-Alex

It's been two years. Or something like that. These years have proved to me that you can realize your dreams no matter what your age is, no matter how much of a dumbass you are and no matter how much you hate Novecento. You just need people to support you along the way. The staffers have always supported each other, both the old staff and the new staff. Even if we quarreled in the news, even if we always joked around, this website's been our dream, our pride, our joy. Our laughs will not end, but this website will. That's how things are and we've got to move on. But, as long as videogame music is alive, that's fine by me.
Keep listening, keep the rhytm, so that our wishes will not end unfulfilled.
-Diaglo

Bacon Tree is missing from months and our old CSM-Manager Blaziken didn't have anything in mind so they're missing from the count.

We'll leave the website online another week or two, in order to pack things and, as Alex said, you can keep on following the YouTube Channel, since its admin is now Alex and not me anymore. Do a proper mourning, guys. Goodbye.
